Once again it was time for our students to explore our national history, take a dip into patriotism and also marvel at some of the infrastructural developments made by our country. We set out on our excursion on 31st Dec 2016 and first headed straight to Rajghat. Though a bit cold, the sky was clear and we were paying our homage to the Father of the Nation when a group of foreign visitors requested us to be clicked with our immaculately dressed students. Our next stop was Gandhi Smriti at Birla Bhawan. With a heavy heart we followed the foot steps that led us to the spot of assassination, which took place 69 years ago ! With disbelieving eyes we watched the belongings of this saint and wondered what a frugal life he lived and yet led the whole nation. The multimedia show writhed the heart of the viewer with pain as it enlivened the memory of the ‘last journey’. The doll museum beautifully portrays the socio-cultural divide of our pre-independence era. Our next stop was Rail Museum. By the time we reached the venue, we all were really hungry, and so we didn’t take much time to finish our lunch packets. It was indeed delicious. The indoor museum was equally attractive as the outdoor exhibits. It was exhilarating to see a wide range of trains – some are even century old. The last leg was the much awaited Toy Train ride. There was rush at the platform and we had to wait for our turn. When the train chugged out of the platform, all the passengers – young and old burst into an applause which turned into a loud scream when it passed through a dark tunnel. At the end, ear to ear smile of all our students was the sign that they enjoyed every bit of the tour.
