The students, parents and faculty members of Vivekdeep were brimming with joy, waiting to celebrate Independence Day 2022 after a gap of 3 years. The continuity of celebration was disturbed due to Covid 19 pandemic.
After the flag hoisting and national anthem, the students set the stage on fire by their performances based on radical ideas. The first event was Saraswati Vandana – which was performed with exquisite finesse and poise by Jitendra. It was a classical dance and Jitendra put his heart and soul in it. It was a show case of Gender Equality that kept the audience thoroughly mesmerised. Then the senior boys presented a patriotic song which was followed by a group dance by girls. There was a patriotic poem on the hardships of farmers beautifully portrayed by the girls. Thereafter, there was a self-composed poem recited by Heena on “Confidence and fulfilment of one’s dream”.
Then it was the time for mime. This year’s topic was “Collaboration between Competitors”. The boys did a wonderful job while sending a strong message to the audience. The next radical idea was a short play by the girls on “Awareness for Organ Donation”. After that, Muskan who has cleared her Class X board exam with high grades came on stage and shared her journey with Vivekdeep. She took a vow to carry forward her learnings to the best of her ability. Muskan was felicitated for her achievement by Shri Arun Dey, Managing Trustee.
Then all the students were called on stage for Rakhi Celebration. Each boy tied a tri-colour band as rakhi, to a girl and vice versa. They promised to live upto the ideals of Vivekdeep throughout their life. It was a unique way to celebrate Rakhi Festival.
Then Shri Rajib Roy, President of Sri Ramakrishna Sangha delivered his presidential address. While he lauded the uniqueness of each event, he also mentioned how Swami Vivekananda in 1897 had asked the youth of the country to keep aside all gods and goddesses for next fifty years and worship only Mother India. Being a clairvoyant, Swamiji had said if it is done, India would be free, and it exactly happened so. Shri Roy also emphasised the need for striving for the welfare at societal level first, because then only personal welfare be achieved. He called upon all to keep the light of Vivekdeep glow, for, that will bring succour to hundreds of lives.
The program ended with Vote of Thanks and the song Ramakrishna Sharanam. The faculty members Pinky, Mamta and Priyanka left no stone unturned to make the program successful. Priyanka also beautifully compered the program. Food packets were distributed among the students and all guests.
